The reasons that marijuana should be legal

Before you dismiss me as some pothead just take a second to read what I’m writing. I do not use marijuana or any other illegal drug. Budweiser and Marlboro’s work just fine for me! The line of work I am in requires random drug testing, and I like money more than I like getting a buzz.

The fact that our government is spending billions upon billions of dollars to chase after people who like to smoke a little dope before they hit up the taco bell drive through is ridiculous. If a grown adult chooses to smoke their braincells away why shouldn’t they be permitted to do so? It’s their brain and their problem. Alcohol also destroys brain cells. It also destroys marriages, friendships and alot of people’s lives in general but they can have commercials on TV!

You may be yelling at your computer screen by now “WHAT ABOUT OUR KIDS DIPSHIT!!” “MARIJUANA IS A GATEWAY DRUG!!!!” To that I would say, You’re right. It is a gateway drug.

Do you know why so many teenagers use marijuana? Because it’s easier for them to get a bag of weed than it is a wine cooler! If you go to any high school, public or private I guarantee 90% of the kids know who to go see if they want to buy some pot. While maybe 20% of the kids may have a connection to get alcohol. These stats are simply based on my memories from about 10 years ago when I was in high school. And I went to school in a good neighborhood also.

If you legalize marijuana and sell it at 7-11 who of legal age, be it 18 or 21 is going to buy it from the dealer on the corner? No one! The corner dealer makes a high % of profits on weed, and benefits from marijuana being a gateway to other things. But if marijuana is sold in the store, HE GOES OUT OF BUSINESS! He’ll have to get a real job. That guy on the corner won’t be able to survive without selling marijuana, he’ll be done for.

The government needs to quit wasting our tax money and reevaluate the laws on the books.

South Florida mayors want to secede from the state?

Ah… My local big government liberal politicians are making noise again! For those of you who do not live in Florida and may have caught wind of it on the national news I’ll take you through it.

The southeastern part of the state of Florida where I live is where the bulk of the population, and the bulk of the money (very little of it mine) resides. We pay more taxes to the state than people in the rest of state. Our local politicians say we aren’t getting the money back that we put in.

That made me stop and think… Isn’t this what big government liberals are all about in the first place??? Except this time it is US who are rich being stolen from to fund government programs for the poor. They don’t like it much when the script is flipped on them.

This is just makes me realize the futility of our local governments. They can’t do anything right but people still have no problem with giving them money. They even seem to have forgotten about the 2000 election that they so royally screwed up. For those of you who do not reside here. We non big government locals often refer to our region as “The people’s republic of South Florida.” Government is everywhere here and most of us just live with it.

Recently in our state we had a vote on the”Homestead Exemption”. That gives homeowners a chance to lower their property taxes by making a certain percent of your home’s value immune from taxation. For example if you have a 200,000 dollar house your taxable value would be 150,000. Our local governments exploded in frustration over this. We the people voted on it and now most of these local governments are trying to run the end around it any way they can. Some cities are refusing to comply, and others are trying to secede. Be glad you live somewhere else. This is not a good place for freedom. But the weather is nice!

Why is our government involved in marriage

A big deal has been made about whether or not gay people should be permitted to have a legal marriage. I believe the more important question is : why is there legal marriage in the first place? Marriage should be between the involved parties and whatever gods they worship if any. What is the need for a legal contract? In a free society what right does a government have to tell consenting adults who they may or may not marry? Who is the government to tell consenting adults they cannot engage in polygamy? If they freely choose to do so. I’m not defending the child molesters in Texas by any means. They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Polygamy has been around since the dawn of time. Just read the old testament. Who are we to tell consenting adults they cannot engage in this activity?

By taking the contract out of marriage we can make divorce a private matter that doesn’t involve our court system. Millions upon millions of dollars are wasted in courtroom divorce proceedings every year. Without big brother in the picture couples would be forced to come up with a solution on how to divide combined assets. If no agreement could be reached a independent arbitrator could be brought in at their expense, not ours.

At the very least this should be a issue for individual states to decide. States can better represent the will of the people who live in their individual states. If someone is so passionate about this issue they can move to a state that represents their

As usual the solution to the problem can be found by taking government out of the equation.
